will skill unlocks stay on pve character we create? I know any skill we unlock we'll have available for pvp characters but when pve characters get reset to level 1, will their available skills stay the same?

as far as what ive read, the skills you unlock will carry over til when the game is released... but you wont be able to access them until you get nightfall.
i got like half the elite forms for the dervish unlocked in june, and I have access to them again currently.

Horseman can you be clearer? I know unlocks stay, but I am worried that I will buy skills with pve character and then they will reset that pve character and I will have to buy same skills again to have them on this pve character. Cos if that is the case then I am better off buying skills of classes I won't play in pve after release.

Skills you buy will be unlocked, but your pve char will have to buy them again.

I remember reading somwhere in the preview info that all characters will be deleted, not retained as in the Factions preview. I'll try to find that info...
Ah yes, in the Complete Guide to the Preview thread stickied at top of this forum...
Quote:
Warning: All characters created for the event will be deleted after the event is over, along with all items in their inventory.
|
And on the GW site, in the Preview Info section...
Quote:
At the end of the event, all Nightfall characters that players have created and all Nightfall items they've acquired will be removed from participating accounts, and the Nightfall content will be removed from the live servers.
|
This is different than during the Factions preview, as they made a point to say our characters would remain back then.

also, you do realize that you wont have any of the gold you find either, so no matter what you sink your gold into during this weekend, it wont make a difference come monday.
any pvp-unlocks will become re-unlocked when we all get retail Nightfall. No reason not to unlock everything you can, if thats what you are asking.
And since the character will be totally reset down to starter level, it doesnt matter what items skills or equipment you find for the weekend. Just have fun doing whatever and dont take the weekend too seriously.

i also got a quick question, will the character slot u get from the prerelease also be locked until the real game comes out?
And if i play the prerelease during the preview event (since i got the prerelease just today), will the 10 hours still count?
Thx for the help~

Sure, but since I will be playing paragon anyway as a pve char, it would be stupid to spend skill points unlocking paragon skills, cos I will need to buy them anyway for my pve paragon when nightfall comes out. So now I am buying nightfall mesmer skills, since I probably won't be making any mesmers and will have to unlock those skills using balthazar's faction.

The Updates page at GW says the characters are "temporary and will be reset prior to the release of Guild Wars Nightfall". Sounds as if they may have changed their minds and mean to reserve them(?)

the 10 hours will count so dont waste them like that
the slot will not be available until you enter a retail key in October.
play the 10 hour trial later because it is for chapter 1/2 only and this event is free now but not available later like your trial will be
